According to a source with knowledge of the outcome, the National Association of Broadcasters board has voted unanimously to support the deal on new FCC kids DTV rules struck by a group of major media companies and children's TV activists. Both the media companies and activists had threatened to take the new rules, which also apply to analog stations and some to cable, to court, but agreed to drop their suits if the FCC accepts the compromise. The NAB board members were said not to be unanimously in favor of the deal, but all ultimately voted to back it. Although the effective date of the rules was stayed, as part of the agreement, the media companies agreed to start complying with its terms as of March 1.
