H.R. 681 the Digital Television Transition Extension Act of 2009
The House has adopted the DTV Delay Act (S. 352), postponing the digital television transition to June 12, 2009.
The bill would extend the end of the transition to digital-only television broadcasting to June 12, 2009 and extend the life of the digital-to-analog converter box coupon program to July 31, 2009.
The bill extends the life of converter box coupons. Coupons not yet issued and not yet expired will be valid until Sept 15, 2009. The bill would also allow the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to supply replacement coupons for people who let their coupons expire without using them.
