Reviewing the Federal Cybersecurity Mission

Rod Beckstrom, who resigned on March 6 after less than a year as director of the National Cybersecurity Center, said Tuesday that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration could use its authority to mandate a baseline of open security standards in stimulus-funded network infrastructure.

The US government needs to create new regulations and incentives to get private companies to protect important cyber infrastructure, including the electricity grid, water facilities, and financial systems, said the new chairwoman of a House of Representatives cybersecurity subcommittee.
