The House of Representatives would accept a narrower Senate bill to boost fines on television and radio stations for decency violations if differences cannot be worked out between the two chambers, House Commerce Committee Chairman Joe Barton (R-TX) said Wednesday. "The (House) Majority Leader and Speaker are working with the Majority Leader in the Senate to see what their timetable might be to appoint conferees," Rep Barton said. "If that doesn't look hopeful, then the recommendation would be to accept the Senate bill."
