The Nation's CTO Lays Out His Priorities

Aneesh Chopra, the newly confirmed chief technology officer of the United States, says his top goal, in a nutshell, is economic development using government policy to create jobs and business around technology. "My job is to serve as the innovation platform champion in addressing private market opportunities in support of public priorities." Chopra's four objectives, as presented recently to Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff: 1) Economic growth through innovation, 2) Addressing presidential priorities through innovation platforms, 3) Building the next-generation digital infrastructure, and 4) Fostering a culture of open and innovative government.
