[Commentary] Many petitions for aid from the US Treasury threaten to set disturbing precedents but few beat the plea from a group of minority broadcasters. Joined by several influential Democratic congressmen, the largely Black and Hispanic lobby insist that its status makes it difficult to attract investment but that, aside from short-term recessionary pressures, local radio and television broadcasting is fundamentally healthy. Neither contention seems accurate.
