The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has named Matthew White executive director of its American Archive initiative. He will provide strategic direction in guiding and implementing all aspects of the American Archive, which is public broadcasting's comprehensive archive of radio and television programming, ensuring its collection, management and preservation. White brings to CPB over twenty years of transitioning archival film and video archives to digital platforms. He has worked independently with global media groups in developing their assets for digital access and distribution and has worked extensively with the BBC, Smithsonian Networks, Apple and the National Film Board of Canada, among many others. Prior to that, White was the executive vice president of Digital Markets at the National Geographic Society, where he managed their audio-visual holdings to meet the immediate demands of their global production and distribution activities. He has also worked closely with public television stations across the country including WETA in Washington, DC and WNET and WLIW in New York.
