A sitcom co-produced by Televisa will air this week on NBC's Telemundo, a first attempt by the Mexican media giant to bypass its long-time partner Univision and further expand in the U.S. Hispanic market. Televisa is barred under a long-term programming deal with Univision Communications Inc. from selling its content to other media companies in the United States. But the "Amor Mio" sitcom, which debuted in Mexico in August, was co-produced with an Argentine consortium that owns the distribution rights for the United States and Puerto Rico and has cut a deal with Telemundo. Telemundo said late on Monday that it had licensed the U.S. rights to "Amor Mio," and would air the first show on Wednesday night.
