Broadband & the Future of E-Rate
Consortium for School Networking
November 9, 2010
1:00 - 2:00 p.m. EST
The Federal Communications Commission issued a major order in late September that makes a number of significant changes to the E-Rate program, including adjusting the annual cap for inflation, establishing a wireless Internet access pilot program, making dark fiber an eligible service, and allowing municipalities and Research and Education Networks to become eligible service providers. We invite you to participate in an online discussion that will give you an overview of these changes to E-Rate policy, information on the order's impact on the application process and a perspective on where E-Rate and federal broadband policy go from here. A panel of national experts will lead this online discussion.
Moderator: Ed Zaiontz, Executive Director of Information Services, Round Rock ISD, TX
Panelists:
Jon Bernstein, CoSN's Legislative Consultant, Bernstein Strategy Group, D.C.
Aleck Johnson, Ed Tech Strategies, Washington D.C.
