SEN SUNUNU TO UNDERTAKE SEN ALLEN'S TECH AGENDA
[SOURCE: Technology Daily 12/12, AUTHOR: David Hatch]
Sen. John Sununu (R-NH) will inherit the main technology priorities of departing Sen George Allen (R-VA) in an attempt to keep the Virginian's legislative legacy alive. Sen Sununu will carry the Republican torch on three Allen priorities: 1) banning Internet taxes, 2) fostering wireless, high-speed Internet services and 3) restricting spyware. With Democrats taking control of the Senate, the bills with the best chance of passage will probably come from people with "Ds" following their names, but Sen Sununu could be a key co-sponsor. A Republican aide said the New Hampshire lawmaker wants to downsize and streamline the FCC and has reached out to like-minded members on that front.
