Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) has introduced a bill to prevent the Federal Communications Commission from reviving the Fairness Doctrine, a controversial and defunct standard that required broadcast licensees to offer "balanced" coverage. Critics saw it as an affront to free speech. Co-sponsors include House Communications Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR), Reps Lee Terry (R-NE), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Mary Bono Mack (R-CA), Joe Barton (R-TX), Cliff Stearns (R-FL), and John Yarmuth (D-KY).
