FCC SEEKS COMMENT ON RECOMMENDATION TO CAP HIGH-COST FUND
[SOURCE: Federal Communications Commission]
The Federal Communications Commission is seeking prompt comment on a recommendation by the Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service that the Commission take immediate action to rein in the explosive growth in high-cost universal service support disbursements. Comments and replies on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) released Monday May 14 will be due 14 and 21 days after publication of the NPRM in the Federal Register. High-cost support helps make phone service affordable for consumers in rural and other high-cost areas.
