A week after sending a letter to Sony Computer Entertainment America President Jack Tretton, Sen Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) has yet to hear from the company about his concerns in the company's response to a massive breach of its PlayStation Network. That has resulted in another letter, this time also sent to Sony Computer Entertainment President Kazuo Hirai, with additional questions from the senator about reports that an additional 24.6 million Sony Online Entertainment accounts had been breached, beyond the 77 million PlayStation Network accounts originally announced. "I am deeply concerned about the egregious inadequacy of Sony's efforts thus far to notify its customers of these breaches or to provide adequate protections for users whose personal and financial information may have been compromised," said the letter to Hirai and Tretton. "Sony's failure to adequately warn its customers about serious security risks is simply unconscionable and unacceptable," the letter continues. "The company should do everything in its power to promote transparency and speed notification in order to protect its users against identity theft and financial fraud."
