AGENDA FOR WWOR-TV LICENSE RENEWAL FORUM IN NEW JERSEY
[SOURCE: Federal Communications Commission]
On Wednesday, the FCC will hold a public forum on the license renewal of WWOR-TV. The hearing is open to the public, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The hearing format will enable members of the public to participate via "open microphone." Speakers on the agenda include Sen Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ); Lew Leone, Vice President and General Manager, WWOR; Donna Sandorse, Voice for New Jersey; Angela Campbell, Institute for Public Representation; Ingrid Reed, Director, Eagleton Institute New Jersey Project; and Parul Desai, Assistant Director, Media Access Project. The FCC is letting the public weigh in on whether or not the station has "failed to provide a program service and adequately meet the needs of its northern New Jersey viewers" as alleged by the United Church of Christ and Rainbow/PUSH. They challenged News Corp, the station's owner, waiver to operate TV stations and newspapers in the same market.
