How Tennessee Plans Economic Transformation Through Broadband Infrastructure
Tennessee is setting out to connect every corner of the state. The State Broadband Director, Taylre Beaty, is working to administer over $400 million of federal funding through the Tennessee Emergency Broadband – American Rescue Plan (TEBF-ARP), and is planning for what will come down the pike with additional federal funding from IIJA. Since the launch in 2018, Tennessee’s broadband program has administered over $120 Million in funding to serve over 140,000 Tennesseans. In this Fiber for Breakfast, Taylre discusses the unique challenges in Tennessee’s communities from broadband infrastructure to digital literacy and adoption. Taylre will share how the Broadband Team at Tennessee Economic and Community Development plans to work with providers across the state to get communities, households, and businesses connected to broadband.
