Nexstar Nabs Retrans Deals Worth $48 Million

After toughing it out with cable operators, Nexstar Broadcasting Group reported Wednesday that its newly-negotiated retransmission agreements will generate about $48 million in revenue over three to five years. In the past few months, Nexstar has reached retransmission agreements with 150 cable operators within the 27 markets in which the company broadcasts, effecting 4 million subscribers. A recent Bear Stearns report estimated that retransmission deals in 2006 could bring in about $9 million in incremental dollars, representing as much as 12 percent of the Nexstar’s EBITDA, the highest percentage in TV.
