Weitzner departing White House for MIT
July 25, 2012
Daniel Weitzner, the White House's deputy chief technology officer for Internet policy, is leaving the administration next month to return to MIT.
Weitzner joined the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) in 2011, stepping into the role formerly held by Tumblr Vice President Andrew McLaughlin. Weitzner has worked on various Internet policy issues during his time in the administration, such as cybersecurity and copyright protection, but is known for his work on the White House's online privacy white paper. A spokesman for OSTP said Weitzner's last day will be Aug. 3.
