Siding with the record industry, a federal appellate court has upheld a finding that Grande Communications contributed to copyright infringement by failing to disconnect internet subscribers who were accused of unlawfully sharing music.
Public spaces across Pennsylvania are about to get an internet upgrade. The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) announced $45 million in funding for the Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Program, which provides money to community organizations and local governments to upgrade public facilities. The program will provide grants to 49 projects in 26 counties across the commonwealth. The grants will go toward building and improving public spaces such as schools, libraries, community centers and healthcare facilities for free, high-speed internet.
The Federal Communication Commission’s Connect2Health Task Force will provide an update on the Mapping Broadband Health in America-Maternal Health mapping platform during the Open Meeting on October 17, 2024. The platform, released in June 2023, allows users to view the intersection of broadband connectivity and maternal health outcomes.
