Sen Rubio (R-FL), Van Hollen (D-MD) ask White House to investigate ZTE's work in Venezuela
Sens Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) are asking the White House to look into whether the Chinese telecommunications firm ZTE violated US sanctions by helping Venezuela track and monitor its citizens. The senators write that they are concerned that, by building a database to help Venezuela track its citizens, ZTE "may have violated US export controls and sanctions laws" as well as an agreement between the Commerce Department and ZTE reached earlier in 2018.
President Trump lashes out at the Associated Press, calls headline 'FAKE NEWS!'
President Donald Trump attacked the Associated Press over a headline it had on a story about comments he made on the midterm elections, saying the headline "was very different from my quote and meaning in the story." The headline on the AP story from Oct 16 reads, "Trump tells AP he won't accept blame if GOP loses House." The president took issue with that language in a tweet. "AP headline was very different from my quote and meaning in the story. They just can’t help themselves.
President Trump predicts media outlets are 'all going to endorse me'
President Donald Trump predicted that news organizations that he routinely attacks as "fake news" would endorse him in the future, saying that they would go out of business if he weren't in office. "The [New York] Times, I think they’re going to endorse me," he said. "I think that ABC, I think — well Fox, I like Fox, I really do." "But I think ABC, CBS, NBC, The Times, they’re all going to endorse me," he added. "Because if they don’t they’re going out of business.
