Virtual Event

Please join the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society, Our Data Bodies (ODB), Benton Opportunity Fund Fellow Greta Byrum, and Digital Justice Organizer Ever Bussey for a one-hour, virtual session on key concepts related to holistic digital safety and wellbeing.

Digital safety is critical to implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act’s $65 billion in investments in broadband access and digital equity. As part of the federal government’s investment roadmap, states are currently producing digital equity plans to drive key outcomes—including digital safety, privacy and security—as new and vulnerable users come online and become acquainted with digital devices.

ODB’s model approach helps build awareness and use of measures to secure the privacy, safety, and cybersecurity of anyone interacting with the internet and digital tools – and especially for new, marginal, and vulnerable internet users. Participants will leave with an understanding of privacy and safety as an effort of community care that goes well beyond passwords to full equity and self-determination in our digital world.
