Empowering the Midwest: Ohio's Role in Closing the Digital Divide
Cincinnati is a city with a rich history and a dynamic, evolving community that plays a critical role in shaping the future of the state and the broader Midwest. To ensure this future is equitable and inclusive, we must safeguard the investments that make digital access possible and expand the digital inclusion ecosystem.
This event will bring together leaders from Cincinnati and Washington, DC who are on the front lines of closing the digital divide—working to ensure every community has access to affordable, reliable broadband that empowers families, strengthens local economies, and builds a more connected society.
Policymakers and representatives from local and national community-based organizations will discuss the urgent need to protect investments made through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, secure a permanent affordable broadband subsidy, and establish long-term, sustainable support for digital navigators. These efforts are not optional; they are essential. Without them, we risk stalling progress and leaving too many behind. Strong federal, state, and local policies must drive digital equity forward, ensuring that all communities can fully participate in the digital revolution—now and for generations to come.
