The FCC‘s Office of Communications Business Opportunities (“OCBO”) will host a Supplier Diversity Conference and Workshop focused on government and private sector business opportunities for small, minority and women-owned businesses. OCBO has invited representatives from private industry, specifically telecommunications and technology firms from across the country, and several government agencies to discuss their organizations’ contracting procedures and provide insight on how small businesses should navigate the procurement process generally.

Panel discussions will take place from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. The first panel will feature procurement officers from the Departments of Defense and Transportation, the Minority Business Development Agency, and the Federal Communications Commission.

On the second panel, supplier executives and diversity officers from Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, Comcast, and Microsoft will talk about their companies’ contract needs and how small businesses can distinguish themselves in the race for lucrative opportunities. Thomas Reed, Director, OCBO, and Ronald Johnson, President of Solutions4Change, and a member of the FCC’s Advisory Committee on Diversity in the Digital Age, will moderate.

In the afternoon, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, OCBO will coordinate one on one sessions between our panelists and any small business owners who wish to participate. In these confidential meetings, small business owners will get individualized advice on supplier strategies and information on current contracting opportunities.
