Hearing: Warning, Alert and Response Network (WARN) Act of 2006

The Commerce Telecommunications and the Internet Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Thursday, July 20 on H.R. 5785, the Warning, Alert and Response Network (WARN) Act of 2006. The session will take place at 10 a.m. in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The legislation is aimed at expanding the current Emergency Alert System, designed to keep the public informed during an emergency through use of broadcast TV and radio networks. The so-called WARN Act would create a voluntary expansion of the emergency alert network to other communication services, including the Internet, cell phones, and cable TV.
