Keeping the FCC From Abandoning Rural America

Public Knowledge

Monday, December 11, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Join Public Knowledge and other advocacy groups for a deep dive into the Federal Communication Commission’s wireline infrastructure proceeding, a significant downgrade for rural America.

In November 2017, the Commission rolled back critical copper retirement rules that protected consumers from harmful practices by telecommunications companies. This panel will explain what exactly the Commission’s Order did, how it will affect everyday Americans (particularly rural Americans), and what can be done to ensure that consumers have adequate access to broadband regardless of their ZIP Code.

Moderator: Yosef Getachew, Policy Fellow, Public Knowledge

Harold Feld, Senior Vice President, Public Knowledge

Debbie Goldman, Telecommunications Policy Director, Communications Workers of America
