Public Forum Examining the Impacts of Mergers and Acquisitions

The Federal Trade Commission is hosting a listening forum to hear from members of the public about the effects of mergers and acquisitions on a range of market participants. This listening forum will not be limited to a specific industry or labor market. Rather, the reach of this forum is intended to be broad.  This fifth forum is an addition to the four forums already helmed by FTC Chair Lina M. Khan and Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter of the Antitrust Division.

FTC Chair Lina M. Khan and FTC Commissioners Noah Joshua Phillips, Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, Christine Wilson, and Alvaro M. Bedoya will attend this event. During the event, the Chair and each Commissioner will provide a brief introduction followed by remarks from each invited speaker. At the conclusion of the speakers’ remarks, members of the public will have an opportunity to comment. 

The forums will supplement the agencies’ request for comments on merger enforcement guidelines to ensure that the agencies hear from affected groups who might not otherwise participate in the process. The comment period closed April 21, 2022; the submitted comments can be reviewed at regulations.gov.
