Readying Rural Communities to Capture the Benefits of Digitalization
Broadband expansion is bringing opportunity and resources to Idaho communities! University of Idaho Extension's Digital Economy Program, in partnership with the Idaho Commission for Libraries and Idaho Commerce’s State Office of Broadband, invites you to participate in this workshop focused on providing tools and resources to address digital access as part of local economic development in rural communities.
Broadband expansion and digitalization can advance economic development, but their net impact depends on the digital readiness of communities. We invite you to connect with state-level decisionmakers, offer insight on local needs, share solutions, and begin planning for accessing funding that enables the benefits of digitalization to reach all Idahoans.
This interactive workshop will focus on:
- Understanding digital access and impacted populations as part of economic growth opportunities .
- Networking and local coalition building to address digital access needs .
- Updates from Idaho Department of Commerce and Idaho Commission for Libraries staff on the development of the State’s 5-year action plans for broadband and digital access, including opportunities to provide input.
- Resources to assist rural communities to take advantage of future funding opportunities for broadband expansion and digital access.
The event will be held in the Best Western's University Room. Lunch will be provided.
Mileage reimbursement is available through the ICfL, and forms will be available at the event. This workshop is free, but space is limited, so register soon!
