Blumenthal: Industry Eventually Could Steer Health IT Initiatives

At a recent National Committee for Quality Assurance policy conference, National Coordinator for Health IT David Blumenthal said he anticipates that the private sector eventually will steer health IT innovation. Dr Blumenthal acknowledged that the federal government is investing significant effort and resources into stimulating health IT adoption among health care providers nationwide. However, Dr Blumenthal said he believes the federal government eventually will stop driving health IT initiatives and instead will begin following advancements from the private industry.
