Carriers Waive Charges for Crisis Text Line

After a request from Richard Branson, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile are waiving charges for sending messages to crisis hotlines and the charges for the hotline itself. Not only that, but the carriers also agreed to make sure the texts don’t show up in billing records — something that could potentially alert abusive spouses or family members. “It’s going to save us hundreds of thousands of dollars and make our texters safer,” said Crisis Text Line founder Nancy Lublin. “It’s amazing.”
