Our Headlines service has long been used as a tool in classrooms, complementing a class syllabus with the most-recent developments in the field. Benton is now making it easier both to connect your students to the service and to facilitate discussion.
Since 1996, the Benton Foundation has provided free, daily summaries of articles concerning the quickly-changing telecommunications policy landscape. Since September 2005, we've used individual stories to help track developments in telecommunications legislation, the media ownership debate and efforts to ensure universal broadband. Of late, Benton has been investing in new technologies to offer our readers new tools to both stay informed and participate in crafting communications policy in the public interest. We now:
- Post each Headlines issue online
- Deliver Headlines via RSS
- Offer topical feeds allowing readers to focus in on just the news they really want
- Allow readers to comment on, recommend and share stories with colleagues (user account features)
For Educators
- We offer easy subscribe/unsubscribe options for class lists and
- Educators are provided with their own page. This page can be used to invite students to sign-up for the Benton.org website, highlight Headlines of interest, and post messages to students.
