FCC CLOSED CAPTIONING RULES
[SOURCE: Federal Communications Commission 11/21]
On November 7, 2006, the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (Bureau) placed on public notice 494 petitions requesting exemption from the closed captioning requirements for their programs. Each petitioner claims that compliance with the closed captioning requirements would impose an undue burden. Comments on and oppositions to petitions listed in the November 7 Public Notice now are due no later than March 27, 2007. The FCC also established a 40-day period for the filing of replies to these comments and oppositions.
