FCC ANNOUNCES LOCALISM HEARING IN PORTLAND ON JUNE 28

The Federal Communications Commission announced it will hold a localism hearing in the afternoon and evening in Portland, Maine, on Thursday, June 28, 2007. The purpose of the hearing is to gather information from consumers, industry, civic organizations, and others on broadcasters' service to their local communities. Along with competition and diversity, promoting localism is a key goal of the Commission's media ownership rules. The hearing format will enable members of the public to participate via an "open microphone" session. Further details will be released as they become available.
