FCC OPEN MEETING JUNE 28

The Federal Communications Commission will hold an Open Meeting on Thursday, June 28, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Portland High School in Portland, Maine ("The city is our campus."). After considering one agenda item -- proposed standards to ensure bidirectional compatibility of multichannel video programming distribution systems and consumer electronics equipment -- the Commission will hold a localism hearing to gather information from consumers, industry, civic organizations, and others on broadcasters’ service to their local communities. Along with competition and diversity, promoting localism is a key goal of the Commission’s media ownership rules.
