Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) is seeking approval to bring to the Senate floor a bill that would impose a tenfold increase in radio- and TV-indecency fines handed down by the Federal Communications Commission, informed Senate sources said Wednesday. Sen Frist, the sources said, is attempting the difficult task of obtaining unanimous consent to discharge the bill from the Senate Commerce Committee and bring it up for a full Senate vote. It would take just one senator to defeat Frist’s plan. Sen Frist is expected to make his move Wednesday night, but he has not guaranteed it.
