MMTC President and CEO Kim Keenan Resigns
The Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council (MMTC) announced that Kim Keenan has resigned from her post as President and CEO. Maurita Coley Flippin, who has served for five years with MMTC as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, will serve as Interim President and CEO. Keenan took the helm of the organization from co-founder David Honig in 2014, and her legacy focused on “bringing policy to the people,” reaching out to communities to make complex and esoteric telecom policies relatable, and to bridge the digital divide. Her signature events included a Net Equality Tour, annual Tech Prep Summits, and a net neutrality campaign, each designed to engage diverse communities in policy, to prep college students for the careers of the future, and to encourage individuals to weigh in on the importance of legislative action for the nation’s digital future.
Coley Flippin most recently served as MMTC’s Executive Vice President/COO. Prior to her work with MMTC, Coley served as an executive at the BET Cable Networks, as Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs, and as Senior Vice President, Network Operations and Programming; and as a partner at the Davis Wright Tremaine and the Cole, Raywid and Braverman law firms. Immediately prior to joining MMTC, Coley Flippin served as Executive Director of Capital Area Asset Builders, a leading nonprofit in financial inclusion in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
