Pennsylvania TV station will continue to air controversial ad
The top-rated television station in Northeastern Pennsylvania has decided to keep airing a campaign commercial that rips Rep Paul E Kanjorski (D-PA) for supporting the nation's health-care reform law. A lawyer for WNEP-TV reviewed the commercial bought by the 60 Plus Association and decided the dispute over its content "is between the two parties, not really the television station," station President and Chief Executive Officer Chuck Morgan said. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had asked local television stations to remove the commercial, claiming it is "false, misleading and deceptive." The commercial accuses Rep Kanjorski of voting for a $1 trillion reform bill that raises taxes, cuts $500 billion from Medicare, and could cost senior citizens their doctors and current Medicare plans.
