Public broadcasting's top GOP backer switches sides
The top Republican supporter of federal funding for public broadcasting not longer appears to support this outlay. Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX) had previously served as the co-chair of the bipartisan public broadcasting caucus.
"As a father of five children, I have been supportive of PBS children's programming in the past," he said. "However, the recent events involving NPR undermine their claims of objectivity in their reporting. Because NPR has crossed the line to political bias, I will no longer serve on the caucus." Rep McCaul voted in favor of defunding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting by supporting the Republican Continuing Resolution that passed the House last month.
