Utah Public Service Commission Approves CenturyLink-Qwest Merger

The Utah Public Service Commission (PSC) has unanimously approved the pending merger between CenturyLink and Qwest Communications with no additional conditions. The PSC voted to approve the merger during its Jan. 4 meeting in Salt Lake City. As part of the approval process, the combined company committed to investing a minimum of $25 million in broadband infrastructure in Utah over five years. When the merger is completed the combined company will serve more than 600,000 access lines throughout the state.
