USDA Invests $3.4 Million in Broadband for Rural Illinois Communities
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $3.4 million to create or improve rural e-Connectivity for 603 rural households, 12 farms and a business in Hamilton County (IL). Hamilton County Telephone Cooperative Corporation Inc. will replace copper wire with fiber-optic cable wire. The upgrade will benefit 146 customers in the area. The company provides broadband internet access, entertainment video and voice services to 1,600 customers over approximately 467 square miles.
USDA Invests $4.4 Million in Rural Broadband Infrastructure in Georgia’s Gilmer County
The US Department of Agriculture invested $4.4 million in high-speed broadband infrastructure. This investment will support the construction of 90 miles of fiber-optic infrastructure in Gilmer County. The service area includes 2,159 households, 25 pre-subscribed businesses, two critical community facilities, an educational facility and 24 pre-subscribed farms, including 22 poultry farms. This broadband investment will strengthen the poultry industry in north Georgia.
USDA Invests $13.3 Million in Rural Broadband for Southeastern Oklahoma
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) invested $13.3 million in two, high-speed broadband infrastructure projects that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for more than 1,000 rural households in southeastern Oklahoma. Pine Telephone and Pine Cellular are based in Broken Bow (OK). Pine Telephone will receive a $5.6 million USDA ReConnect program grant. Pine Cellular will receive a $7.7 million ReConnect program grant. Both projects will deploy fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) in parts of Pushmataha and McCurtain counties.
USDA Invests $10.3 Million in Broadband for Rural New York Communities
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) invested $10.3 million in high-speed broadband infrastructure that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for 2,875 rural households, 10 pre-subscribed farms, three pre-subscribed businesses and two educational facilities in Yates County, New York. Yates County will use a $10.3 million ReConnect Program grant to deploy a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband network capable of delivering speeds up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps).
USDA to Open the Application Window for the Second Round of ReConnect Program Funding Jan 31
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) will begin taking applications for the second round of $550 million in ReConnect Program loan and grant funding on Jan 31. These funds will enable the federal government to continue to partner with the private sector and rural communities to build modern broadband infrastructure in areas with insufficient internet service. Insufficient service is defined as connection speeds of less than 10 megabits per second download and 1 megabit per second upload.
USDA Invests $7.1 Million in Broadband for Rural Arkansas Communities
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has invested $7.1 million in two, high-speed broadband infrastructure projects that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for 1,250 rural households in north central Arkansas. The Yelcot Telephone Company will use a $1.7 million ReConnect Program grant and a $1.7 million loan to upgrade facilities from copper cable and drops to a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network that is expected to connect 548 households in Baxter and Marion counties.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has invested $18.7 million in a high-speed broadband infrastructure project that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for more than 6,300 rural households and an estimated 383 farms in Harrison, Doddridge, Lewis, Barbour and Upshur counties in West Virginia. USDA Invests $5.7 Million in Broadband for Rural Nebraska Communities
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has invested $5.7 million in a high-speed broadband infrastructure project that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity in parts of three Nebraska counties. The investment is expected to connect 489 rural households, 24 farms and eight businesses to high-speed broadband internet in unserved portions of Madison, Wayne and Pierce counties. Eastern Nebraska Telephone Company will use a $5.7 million ReConnect Program grant to construct 221 miles of fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband infrastructure.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) invested $11 million in three, high-speed broadband infrastructure projects that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for more than 1,395 rural households and nearly 120 businesses throughout several counties in Minnesota and northern Iowa. USDA Invests $48 Million in Broadband for Rural Virginia Communities
The US Department of Agriculture has invested $48 million in high-speed broadband infrastructure for more than 22,600 rural households in Virginia. Wilkes Telephone Membership Corporation Inc. will use a $48 million ReConnect Program loan to construct a fiber-to-the-premises network encompassing 1,847 square miles. The service area is expected to reach 22,604 households, 19 educational facilities, eight critical community facilities and one health care center in Halifax, Charlotte, Lunenberg, Mecklenburg, Brunswick, King and Queen, Bedford and Pittsylvania (VA) counties.
