Lumos to invest nearly $100 million in Greenville County with a 100% fiber optic internet network expansion
Lumos announced its expansion into Greenville County (SC) with nearly a $100 million investment to build out over 775 miles of its 100% fiber network throughout the county. As a result of this expansion, Lumos will be the first fiber provider to families, households, and businesses throughout portions of the Greenville market, establishing underserved areas of South Carolina for economic success in the future. The expansion will bring fiber-optic internet to thousands of residents and businesses in the greater Greenville area.
Lumos Launches its 100% Fiber-Optic Internet in Orange County, North Carolina
Lumos launched a new fiber-optic broadband network in Orange County, North Carolina. The previously announced partnership between Lumos and Orange County remains one of the largest public-private partnerships for fiber infrastructure in North Carolina’s history. It was made possible by significant investments from Lumos and an Orange County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) fund award and will reach more than 6,300 unserved homes in the County. Lumos has also committed millions more to increase the scope of the project, enabling it to serve an additional 22,000 addresses.

Lumos will be making a big impact on the Tidewater region of Virginia, bringing ultra-high-speed fiber internet service to nearly 85,000 residents and businesses across the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Portsmouth (VA) communities. The Lumos expansion will blanket the region with over 760 miles of the latest fiber optic technology featuring 100 Gigabit speed capacity at a cost of over $83 million. In addition, Lumos will generate jobs in the region with its plan to hire local sales, service and support teams.
