There is fresh data on satellite performance during Q2 2022 in Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America. This analysis includes results from eight additional countries, two new providers, and expanded data for Starlink, HughesNet, and Viasat. Key findings in an analysis from Speedtest Intelligence data include:

United States' Mobile and Fixed Broadband Internet Speeds June 2022

Speedtest by Ookla released its June 2022 mobile and fixed broadband speeds market analysis. Speedtest Intelligence reveals T-Mobile was the fastest mobile operator in the United States during Q2 2022 with a median download speed of 116.54 Mbps on modern chipsets. Verizon Wireless remained in second place and AT&T finished third. T-Mobile also had the fastest median upload speed among top mobile operators in the US at 11.72 Mbps during the second quarter of 2022. Verizon Wireless was second and AT&T finished third.

Median 5G performance for Verizon reached 107.25 Mbps in first quarter 2022, fuelled by its C-band deployment, but T-Mobile maintains the upper hand in the performance stakes, recording 191.12 Mbps. Furthermore, Verizon looking to capitalize on C-band advantage. While still early days for C-band in the US, Verizon will hope that its improved 5G performance will feed through into growth in postpaid net phone additions, following a decline in first quarter 2022.

Ookla's Speedtest released its mobile and fixed broadband speed rankings in the United States for December 2021. Speedtest Intelligence revealed T-Mobile was the fastest mobile operator in the United States during Q4 2021 with a median download speed of 90.65 Mbps on modern chipsets. AT&T was second and Verizon third. This represents a strong increase in download speed for T-Mobile from 62.35 Mbps in Q3 2021.

Ookla examined Speedtest Intelligence data from Q3 2021 Speedtest results to see how 5G speeds have changed, where download speeds are the fastest at the country and capital level, where 5G deployments have increased, and what worldwide 5G Availability looked like in Q3 2021. Over the past year from Q3 2020 to Q3 2021, the median global 5G download speed fell to 166.13 Mbps, down from 206.22 Mbps in Q3 2020. Median upload speed over 5G also slowed to 21.08 Mbps (from 29.52 Mbps) during the same period.
