Jim Kohlenberger

Jim Kohlenberger strengthened the Benton Foundation’s collaborations in the field and guided the media policy work, including advocacy for universal, affordable broadband, tangible public interest obligations for digital television broadcasters, diversified media ownership, and open communications networks. Jim is the author of the 2005 Citizen’s Guide to the Public Interest Obligations of Digital Television Broadcasters and the 2007 Universal Affordable Broadband for All Americans: How to Modernize Universal Service for the 21st Century and Connect Americans to a New Era of Digital Opportunity. Jim went on to serve as Chief of Staff, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Obama Administration (2009-2011) and is now President of JK Strategies, an innovation policy-focused consulting practice.
