Antitrust Inquiry Opened Into Orange’s Proposed Telecom Deal for Jazztel

Europe’s antitrust watchdog opened an investigation into the proposed $4.1 billion acquisition of the Spanish cable provider Jazztel by the French telecom giant Orange. The investigation will look at whether the proposed deal will reduce Spanish consumers’ options for telecom services, and comes as Europe’s telecom market is going through a new round of consolidation.
