Head of ICANN to step down

Rod Beckstrom, president and CEO of the nonprofit that coordinates the Internet’s address system, will step down at the end of his term next July. Beckstrom took the helm of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in July 2009. During his tenure, Beckstrom helped to expand the international focus of ICANN. The organization began allowing for addresses to contain non-Latin characters, for example.
