Long Island station WLNY/Ch. 10/Ch. 55’s final 11 p.m. newscast under the current ownership will air on March 29. A regularly scheduled newscast won’t return to the station until mid-June, a couple of months after the outlet is officially acquired by WCBS/Ch. 2.

When the merged operation gets underway, WLNY is expected to have an expanded news presence, sources say. Ch. 10/55 will use “Entertainment Tonight,” hosted by Nancy O’Dell, weeknights at 11 to fill the station’s only news time slot. The merger of the two local stations was announced in December. No financial details of the deal were disclosed. Insiders are betting the Federal Communications Commission will approve the deal next month.
