Rep. Wolf criticizes Obama for ignoring mental health, media violence in State of the Union

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) accused President Barack Obama of failing to tackle issues of mental health and violent entertainment during his State of the Union address, saying both contribute to mass shootings that lawmakers are seeking to prevent.

“While I recognize the potential constitutional issues involved in tackling media violence, mental health parity and gun control, I am disappointed that mental health issues and media violence were left out of the president’s address,” Rep Wolf said. “How could he not acknowledge the role that violent media played in some of their lives?” said Rep Wolf, chairman of the House Appropriations Commerce, Justice and Science (CJS) subcommittee.
