Microsoft Says Won’t Read Suspected Pirates’ Hotmail, Will Turn Them In to Cops Instead

Microsoft announced another change to its privacy policy, saying that it will not read the e-mail of those suspected of violating intellectual property rights and instead turn the matter over to law enforcement.
“Effective immediately, if we receive information indicating that someone is using our services to traffic in stolen intellectual or physical property from Microsoft, we will not inspect a customer’s private content ourselves,” general counsel Brad Smith said. “Instead, we will refer the matter to law enforcement if further action is required.”
