San Francisco Bay Area is Well Connected

Bay Area residents are better connected to the Internet than the average American, more likely to have DSL than cable modem service, and eager to see wireless technologies deployed over the entire region, according to a survey released by the Bay Area Council. More than three-fourths of Bay Area households surveyed had home computers. Of these computer-owning households, 84 percent had high-speed, or broadband, Internet access. That works out to a broadband penetration rate of 62 percent for the region, outstripping the 42 percent national average reported by the Pew Internet & American Life Project in 2006, the council said.
