Pulse broadband access comes to underserved places in Larimer County, Colorado, thanks to partnership
Municipal broadband access will expand to parts of underserved unincorporated Larimer County (CO) thanks to a partnership between the county and the city of Loveland (CO). Larimer County’s Board of Commissioners approved an amendment to an existing agreement between Loveland and the county as part of their partnership to provide broadband services to parts of unincorporated Larimer County through Loveland Pulse, the city’s municipal broadband service. The approved amendment authorizes use of recovery funds of up to $500,000 to complete ongoing grant projects in Drake and Lago Vista neighborhoods to expand broadband access. The project will expand access to municipal broadband to an additional 82 properties in the Sylvan Dale Ranch and Ellis Ranch areas of Larimer County, according to a news release from the county. Pulse is available to the 302 homes in the Lago Vista Mobile Home Park, Pulse Municipal Fiber Manager Brieana Reed-Harmel told the Coloradoan. When construction is completed, 195 premises around Drake will also have broadband access through Pulse. These are the only ongoing municipal broadband projects in unincorporated Larimer County, Pfaffinger said. The county hopes to continue expanding broadband access through partnerships with Loveland Pulse and the city of Fort Collins (CO) municipal broadband program, Connexion.
